How difficult is it to remove walls in order to open up my older model bungalow?

If you choose to open a room by removing a wall there are only 2 things to consider. First and most important is to determine if the wall is load bearing or in layman terms, is this wall holding up the roof above? Some walls have posts or re-enforcing at different locations. If the wall of choice spans a large distance it most likely is load bearing and some modifications may have to be made in order to achieve your goal. Secondly, you will need to know if there are any hidden wires or pipes within the wall. These will have to be relocated or redirected to maintain power and water. If your basement is finished this may present new challenges as these wires and pipes are not accessible from below.
